Compare excitatory postsynaptic potentials and endplate potentials.
What will be an ideal response?
Excitatory postsynaptic potentials and endplate potentials are similar. They are both excitatory. With endplate potentials, however, these are more "meaningful" in determining the next step. Even if there are only a few motor units that are activated, a muscle contraction will occur because endplate potentials are not an all-or-nothing occurrence. In this case, a weak muscle contraction will occur rather than no muscle contraction (what would likely happen in the case with a postsynaptic potential).
