What are the four delivery methods and when should you
use each one?
What will be an ideal response?
It is important to use the proper delivery method when giving a speech. The best
overall method is the extemporaneous method, because you prepare and practice it in
advance, yet you deliver it using an outline. It allows you to be audience-friendly and
flexible. The manuscript method involves reading a speech word-for-word and it is
appropriate when exact wording is critical. Memorized speaking, when you commit an
entire speech to memory, is useful when you want accuracy and also the appearance of
spontaneity. Finally, often we use impromptu speaking in our everyday lives when we
answer a question in class or give a speech on a moment's notice.
