Chart the path of molecules of a secreted protein beginning at the DNA for a eukaryote
What will be an ideal response?
ANSWER: The DNA message on the gene would be converted to RNA in the nucleus. The RNA would
leave the nucleus and travel to the rough endoplasmic reticulum. At this point it would bind
to a ribosome for translation to protein. The protein would leave the rough ER in a vesicle,
travel to the Golgi apparatus for sorting, and then put in a new vesicle. This vesicle would
travel to the cell membrane to be secreted.
