These items all contain small pieces of information, such as an address for a recently visited website, or the names and types of files recently accessed by the user. These can be very useful to determine if the computer has recently accessed, viewed, or downloaded files which might be evidence of a crime, e.g. viewing images of child pornography, or a recent spreadsheet file entitled "who owes me money."
