Sometimes it is done by computer, but more often than not, a person will lose their credit, fail to shred important documents, or give their social security number to a fraudster. In all cases where stolen credit cards and checks are used, they must be traced through business establishments and financial institutions. Location and times of spending and withdrawals may help in locating the thief along with computer signature and cyber paths.
