Why is it important for the family law paralegal to comprehend the emotional aspects of divorce?
What will be an ideal response?
Since the paralegal will probably be the “contact person” for the client, the paralegal will be the one to deal with the anxiety, anger, and fear. Also, since the adversarial litigation process tends to exacerbate the emotional devastation of ending a family, the trial preparation may make a bad situation worse. In order to be able to represent a client competently, there will have to be a level of trust and cooperation. This will be impossible if the client’s emotional state interferes with the duty to be professional in client contacts.
