Compare and contrast posttraumatic stress syndrome with rape trauma syndrome.

What will be an ideal response?

Rape victimization produces feelings of depression, guilt, self-blame, lowered self-esteem, shock, anger, and depression, which sometimes translate into rape trauma syndrome. This syndrome is similar to posttraumatic stress syndrome (re-experiencing the event via “flashbacks,” avoiding anything at all associated with the event, and a general numbness of affect) often suffered by those who have experienced the horrors of war. Victimization may also negatively change victims’ perceptions of other people from sources of support to sources of threat.
