Describe how actual recording of musical instruments usually takes place for a Hollywood movie when an orchestra is required and the types of workers that are on hand.

What will be an ideal response?

Orchestral film scores are accomplished as “all-at-once-live,” with all musicians gathered together at
the same time, performing at the same time, and being recorded at the same time. Electronic MIDI
music equipment may also be used. The big live recording usually takes place on large “scoring stages,”
where the orchestra works on a half-acre area of floor space. Besides the musicians, orchestra leader,
and composer, other workers on hand during recording include scoring mixers, a music librarian, the
music editor, the composer’s agent, and the head copyist.
