Argue why SSTF tends to favor requests to midrange tracks at the expense of the requests to the innermost and outermost tracks.
What will be an ideal response?
The disk head must go “through” the midrange tracks to service the inner and outer
tracks, it is impossible (assuming a random distribution) for all requests at the inner and
outer tracks to be serviced before the requests at the midrange tracks. Thus, all midrange
requests will be serviced before all of the inner and outer range requests are serviced.
