Discuss the Alpine orogeny. What will be an ideal response?

The Alpine orogeny is the product of the collision of Africa and Arabia with the Eurasian
continental mass. However, this orogeny is very complex and apparently has had several
phases with opening up of the Mediterranean between these phases. The Alpine orogeny
includes mountains in the Middle East and the Pyrenees as well as the Alps in France,
Germany, and Switzerland.
