What is the disadvantage of consuming inadequate fiber?

What will be an ideal response?

The amount of time that it takes for the body to digest food and absorb nutrients is partially determined by the amount and type of fiber which is consumed. When adequate fiber is consumed, peristalsis–the muscular wavelike contractions which move the food mass through the gut–is enhanced. Adding dietary fiber also increases the bulk of the food mass. In the absence of adequate fiber, constipation–dry hardened feces–results. Hemorrhoids–painful swollen bleeding veins may also be present.
