How are parents benefitted by the use of digital technology in education?

What will be an ideal response?

Parents have new tools with which to track student progress at school. Several companies have developed software products that allow parents to view a password-protected web-based grade book that tracks student attendance, homework completion, and grades on tests and projects. The site may also be like a class web page or Facebook page and indicate what the homework assignment is for each class, the due dates, and the criteria for the assignment. Many parents and teachers have embraced the use of these software tools because it fosters consistent communication between parents and teachers. Although teachers have used e-mail as a form of communication to parents, these secure websites allow parents to intervene early if students need guidance because they can be updated daily on their child's performance. It allows teachers to communicate with parents on a timely basis.
