Exam lock-in (ELI)
What will be an ideal response?
One intervention employed in promoting achievement. This intervention occurs from a Friday afternoon to a Sunday afternoon the weekend before fall semester and spring semester final exams. In this setting, members of these achievement groups, known as the Empowered Youth Program, are locked in a participating high school where they participate in both individual and small group study sessions. They are proctored by teachers and graduate students who are sensitive to culturally based learning styles and who simultaneously push them and nurture them. The focus of the small group portion is building on the strengths of the young people involved.
