Explain the duties of a producer in a recording session in terms of managing creativity.

What will be an ideal response?

The producer is an objective, independent voice in recording sessions that bridges the gap between
artistic expression and commercial viability. The producer analyzes what is working/not working and is
responsible for keeping work going forward. The producer is responsible for selecting songs that get
recorded, in decisions usually shared with the artist. The producer also selects supporting creative
personnel working on recordings with the artist. The autonomy of the producer is determined in part by
the clout of the artist, with major stars retaining ultimate creative control and the producer cast as more
someone to execute the featured artist’s vision.
