Explain the four themes that arose from the textbook.
What will be an ideal response?
One theme is gender similarities, the notion that women and men are more similar to each other than they are different. A second theme is the pervasiveness of androcentrism, cisgenderism, and heteronormativity in the media, our culture, and even our psychology theories. A third theme is the inadequacy of the gender binary--it is increasingly clear to many of us that gender is more than male/female. And a fourth theme is the importance of intersectionality and how multiple social categories shape our identities and status.
