Do you think it is beneficial for investigative interviews to have knowledge of the four child development stages? Why or why not?
What will be an ideal response?
Yes, differences will emerge regarding interview techniques with children. That is because the purpose and scope of the interview with a child may change at any point during the interview process. A child who is being questioned primarily for having been victimized may also have begun perpetrating. The child may have been victimized by more than one person and through different forms of abuse. Children who have been victimized may also have witnessed other victimizations; they may have information from the perpetrator of others who have been abused. These variables will in turn affect the choice of the person to conduct the questioning.
