Why do older people sometimes have negative attitudes towards communications technology?

The main reason here could be one of ignorance. From a historical perspective we know that attitudes change as new technology becomes more commonplace or in effect becomes ‘old technology’. But the negative attitudes may actually arise as a result of the changes which are so very rapid, thus making it difficult for some older people to perhaps keep up with the new technology. The end result of this is that they feel left behind and unable to understand the new devices which younger people have grown up with.
