Four attributes important to culturally relevant pegagogy: 1) Teachers use cultural referents to develop students' knowledge, skills, and attitudes. 2) Teachers honor students' life stories and belief systems, finding ways to incorporate them into the learning context. 3) Teachers create classroom community by granting voice and legitimacy to students' experiences. 4) Teachers encourage all students to achieve in academics by acknowledging their personal and cultural identities.
