What will be an ideal response?

Ans: Assessment of the student's language competency in both English and his or her native language should be completed before administering other tests. A student must exhibit a disability when evaluated in his or her native language to be eligible for special education. Schools should incorporate ecological assessments that include multiple evaluation tools and information gathered from the student and his or her parents and teachers. Evaluators should use evaluation techniques that are as unbiased as possible. If a bilingual professional is unavailable, an interpreter may be used if he or she is first trained in assessment principles. Parents and other stakeholders should be involved when developing alternative assessments.
