What will be an ideal response?

Because almost all parents spank it puts each new generation at risk for abuse when
parents over-react or go out of control in anger, ambivalence about parental love and
poorer bonding, loss of trust, reliance on aggression instead of other actions to regulate
social behavior. It also is correlated heavily with harmful effects such as depression,
violence, lower earnings, harmful psychological effects, criminality and delinquency.
Important to the discussion is that no good effects from spanking can be identified.
