Describe the types of diversion programs currently used

What will be an ideal response?

• In general nonviolent offenders with limited records and possible treatment needs will be eligible for diversion, which can combine treatment with pretrial conditions such as avoiding additional criminality, reporting to the supervising officer as required, maintaining employment, and participating in the identified treatment program. One notable diversion program, TASC, offers treatment programs under the philosophy that, if offenders become involved in a treatment program for their addiction and successfully deal with their drug problem, their chance of avoiding future criminal activity is improved.
