The nucleus is a cellular organelle containing DNA, RNA, and proteins. Surrounding the nucleus is the double-membraned nuclear envelope; the gap within this double membrane is the perinuclear space. Nuclear pores allow for chemical communication between the nucleus and the cytosol.
