Explain the paradoxical nature of leadership qualities. Be sure to use several examples.

What will be an ideal response?

Very good leaders are complex and sometimes contradictory individuals. A paradox involves seemingly contradictory elements that exist simultaneously and appear to be logical when considered in isolation. The same elements can, at first, also seem irrational and inconsistent when considered together. The idea of paradoxical leadership is to show how seemingly contradictory elements can exist simultaneously and harmoniously, and contribute to leader effectiveness. Examples include narcissism and humility, the gaining of control by giving up control, being analytic and intuitive, and rebelling with a cause.
