Describe the language development that occurs in preschool children

What will be an ideal response?

In preschool children receptive vocabulary continues to grow at a faster rate than expressive vocabulary. The majority of words continue to be nouns, but children also start to add verbs, adjectives, adverbs, prepositions, pronouns, articles, negatives, and wh- words. Children start using compound and complex sentences and the sentences appear to be adult-like in grammatical form. Children also start to request information, ask for clarification, request attention, disagree with others, making statements about feelings, and respond to others during a conversation. Preschool children also start to tell stories about things they have experienced. Children also begin to develop phonological awareness skills through rhyming.
