Body language: Posture communicates emotion. Sitting upward denotes rising energy, while a
drooping body signifies low energy.
Proxemics: Violation of personal space can cause a person to feel tension. An ideal setup entails
people sitting corner-to-corner. This allows for better observation of visual cues and eye contact.
Paralanguage: The vocal part of speech and its nuances (e.g., tone, pitch, and reflection). It
reminds us that it's not just important to note what the person says, but also how the person says
it. Active emotions (e.g., fear and anger) are expressed at a fast rate with high pitch and tone,
while passive emotions are conveyed by a slower rate of speech and a lower volume and pitch.
