Why is it important to use services of heterogeneous networks? Explain.
What will be an ideal response?
There are numerous but different wireless technologies and have different
characteristics and shortcomings. In a similar way, a given user may need to do different things that require different values of bandwidth and other relevant parameters. Therefore, a single user may like to access different wireless technology depending on the application user is interested in. Thus, the user needs to have multiple interfaces so as to connect to a desirable wireless technologies; possibly multiple technologies simultaneously. The presence of these different technologies makes availability of heterogeneous services and the network is termed as a heterogeneous network.
