Explain how ozone (O3) is both beneficial and harmful to life. What will be an ideal response?

ANSWER: The ozone layer benefits living organisms by absorbing most ultraviolet (UV) radiation from
incoming sunlight. Near the ground, where there is naturally little ozone, it is considered a
pollutant. Ozone irritates the eyes and respiratory tracts of humans and wildlife. It also
interferes with plant growth.
