Four hours later, J.F. delivers a 6-pound, 8-ounce boy, with Apgar scores of 6 and 7
What are your responsibilities at this time?
What will be an ideal response?
• Have a pediatric team present in case infant resuscitation is needed
• Keep track of the time of the delivery of the placenta and Apgar scores, and record what is taking
place
• Keep J.F. informed about what is happening, and respond to her concerns
• Keep her IV of magnesium sulfate running for 12 to 24 hours after the delivery because she is still
at risk for a seizure during that time
