Ingratiation means to bring oneself into favor with someone by flattering or trying to
please him or her. To ingratiate is to attempt to influence others by becoming more
attractive or likeable. It relates to impression management, which is defined as the
process by which we attempt to influence the perceptions others may have of us.
Ingratiation is just one of the ways that we can “influence the perception of others.”
