What are the identified core beliefs of police culture today? Does this fit with your impression of the force? Why or why not?

What will be an ideal response?

Police experts say six core beliefs are at the heart of police culture today. The first is that police are the only real crime fighters and that other agencies only play at crime fighting. The second is that no one else understand the real nature of police work. The public in general and outsiders have little concept of what it means to be an officer. The third is that loyalty to colleagues counts above everything else. Police officers have to stick together because everyone is out to get the police. The fourth is that it is impossible to win the war against crime without bending the rules and that courts have given defendants too many civil rights. The fifth is that members of the public are basically unsupportive and unreasonably demanding, criticizing the police unless they need help. The last is that patrol work is unpleasant and detective work is exciting and glamorous. Student answers will vary on how they view these core beliefs.
