Discuss the development of multicelled organisms from single-celled organisms. How did this

development occur? What will be an ideal response?

The student should discuss how the first multicelled organisms probably developed from
colonies of single-celled organisms that did not disperse. These colonies may have developed
some cells that were specialized. Eventually, these specialized cells developed the ability to
carry out functions such as reproduction, respiration, and food gathering.
