Read each of the following passages and respond to the questions that follow by choosing the letter of the correct answer.

I was a very gullible kid growing up. For a few years I believed in the existence of “hill cows.” One time I went on a car trip through the Catskill Mountains with my family. There were cows grazing on a hill. My mom told me that their back legs were shorter than their front legs so they could stand on the hillside easily. I thought it seemed plausible. Another time I was fooled was when the Bishop visited our church. I was sitting with my father, who always enjoyed playing chess. He taught my brothers and me how to play the game. Well, he told me that real Bishops walk diagonally too, just like the chess piece. Believe it or not, I fell for that one also, and for a few years thought all bishops moved diagonally and hill cows could graze on the steepest of hills. The major purpose of this passage is to a. inform readers about what makes hill cows different from regular cows. b. entertain readers with a story about how gullible the author was a as a kid. c. persuade readers to believe in the existence of hill cows.
