How do research and theory work together?

What will be an ideal response?

They work together, because both are essential to sociology. Every theory must be tested, which requires research; and research often leads to new theories. According to C. Wright Mills, research without theory is simply a collection of unrelated facts, while theory without research is abstract and empty.
