How could a poorly prepared presentence report make a judge's job more difficult?

What will be an ideal response?

Answers will vary but should mention that a poorly prepared presentence report will make it more difficult for a judge to decide on the appropriate and best sentence. This decision has already been made more difficult for judges, since their decision-making power has been reduced and the courts now lean toward a more punitive approach to sentencing. However, the rehabilitation ideology still exists in some form, and the presentence report is critical in order for a judge to be able to choose who will receive some help and what help they will receive. A poorly written report prevents the judge from making a decision that could be hugely beneficial to the offender and/or to society.
