Evaluate and discuss the cycle of violence. What are the different stages? What occurs during each stage? Why is it so hard for victims to leave abusive relationships?
What will be an ideal response?
The cycle begins with tension building in the abuser as a result of frustration, stress, and, generally, low self-esteem. It changes into anger or fear and then rage, resulting in an attack on his partner. The final phase is the honeymoon, in which the abuser feels remorse and guilt. There is often a repeat of the assaults, causing another cycle of violence to occur. It is hard for victims to leave abusive relationships because they are without much support, either financially or emotionally.
