Explain the subsidiation chain involved if one considers Brian’s alcoholism as an attitude (according to Cattell’s definition). What would be some of the sems/sentiments and ergs that motivated this behavior? Explain.

What will be an ideal response?

Brian’s self-sentiment (sem) most likely motivated his alcoholism (attitude). His injury and loss of leg affected his self-concept negatively and he sought comfort in alcohol. His self-concept (and therefore his alcoholism) was probably also motivated by feelings of loneliness and anger, both ergs.
