Ans: Teen mothers have worse health; more pregnancy complications; and more stillborn, low-weight, or medically fragile infants. Giving birth early and outside of marriage compounds risk that young women and their children will become or remain poor. Parenthood is a leading cause of dropping out of school among teenage women.
