Discuss the criticisms of person centered therapy.
What will be an ideal response?
It places too much responsibility on the client and not enough responsibility on the expertise of the therapist.
It is unrealistic to expect therapists to have unconditional positive regard for their clients because everything is ultimately conditional.
The approach is not useful for clients who are in a crisis and who may require directive therapeutic interventions.
Person-centered therapy is more useful for highly verbal clients and less appropriate for clients who have difficulty expressing themselves.
