Briefly describe how the blood forms a clot
What will be an ideal response?
When the body is injured, the injured blood vessel constricts to decrease the amount of blood flow. Then thrombocytes stick to the damaged blood vessel wall and form clumps to block the blood flow; this is known as platelet aggregation. The platelets release clotting factors. Damage to the blood vessel activates other clotting factors in the plasma. The clotting factors make strands of fibrin that trap erythrocytes and form a thrombus or blood clot.
