• Self-leadership is the process of influencing one’s own behaviors, actions, thoughts, and self-regulatory processes. A team is a group of individuals that is working together towards the accomplishment of a shared goal. These terms do not contradict each other because there still needs to be effective self-leaders within a team context.
• Team self-leadership is when a team leads itself. It involves the application of mental and behavioral self-leadership strategies that enable team members to provide themselves with self-direction and self-motivation, and ultimately to become effective, personally empowered contributors to their team. Team self-leadership is similar to individual self-leadership in that they both involve the use of behavioral and mental strategies; however, it differs in the level at which these occur.
