What is the difference between grouping and sorting records in a report?

Sorting records puts records in alphabetical order (ascending or descending order) by the values in a particular field or by multiple fields. Grouping puts fields with the same value together so you can add subtotals and grand totals for that field, or so you can analyze data based on one particular field at a time.
