Gender identity is the gender that person identifies as being, whether that person was assigned that gender at birth or not. Transgender is an umbrella term used to describe all of those who identify outside of their assigned sex or outside of the gender binary. It is a gender orientation, not a sexuality. Transgender people may have heterosexual, lesbian, gay, or bisexual sexual orientation. Sexuality: the ways in which people construct their sexual desires and relationships, including the norms governing sexual behavior.
