A fairly conserved gene is compared between a human, a chimpanzee, a bear and a banana. How would you expect
their DNA sequences to relate? What will be an ideal response?
ANSWER: The human and chimpanzee would have very similar DNA sequences as they diverged from
each other very recently. The bear would be about equally different from the human and
chimpanzee, but more different than the human compared to the chimpanzee as it diverged
much longer ago. The banana would be very different from all three animals having only the
most distant common ancestor.
