What is Code Adam and what are the six basic steps in the program?

What will be an ideal response?

• Code Adam is an internationally recognized "missing child" safety program in the United States (and Canada), originally created by Wal-Mart retail stores in 1994 and named for Adam Walsh who was kidnapped and murdered in 1981 . Its six steps are: 1) if a child is reported missing, a detailed description is obtained and all exterior access to the building is locked and monitored; 2) an employee pages Code Adam and other employees search for the child; 3) law enforcement is called if the child isn't found within 10 minutes; 4) if the child is found unharmed, they are reunited with family; 5) if the child is found with someone other than family, efforts will be made to keep them on scene; 6) the Code Adam page is cancelled after the child is found or law enforcement arrives.
