The Problem-Based Learning Model should be applied to help students solve authentic problems by identifying a problem, determining and implementing possible solutions, and then evaluating the impact of actions taken. In addition, this model is ideal for developing critical-thinking, cooperative, and social skills to cultivate life-long learners for the 21st century. This model also teaches students to be self-directed learners who connect curriculum to real world issues outside of the classroom. This work entails learning to define one's tasks, see oneself as able to work independently, stay on task, be resourceful, advocate for oneself, self-motivate and regulate one's progress and work.
