Briefly give explanations as to why "theory of mind" contributes to the changes in children's play and social skills during preschool

What will be an ideal response?

Answer: Using theory of mind, children are able to give explanations as to how others think and reason, and, therefore, behave. By age 2, children are able to understand that others have emotions. By age 3-4, children can distinguish between an idea in their mind and physical actuality. Preschoolers become more insightful regarding the motives and reasons behind people's behavior. At age 4, children understand that people can be fooled or tricked. By the end of the preschool period, children can solve false belief problems.
