Describe some of the benefits of Internet use for child development

What will be an ideal response?

Internet use can benefit both academic achievement and social skills. Academically, exposure to reading online (even if not for school materials) provides practice and skill in reading. It helps kids "learn without pain.". Socially, kids who spend time online as a way of augmenting offline relationships tend to feel closer to their friends than kids who do not interact with friends online. Online interaction provides a safer venue than face-to-face as a way of exploring sexual identity and relationships. Finally, there are some health benefits to Internet use. Teens can benefit from using credible and accurate information sites on the Internet as a way of improving their knowledge of health behaviors and implementing those understandings in their daily life.
