Agreeableness. Police officers should be gentle, cooperative, and forgiving. Irritable, ruthless, inflexible, uncooperative people tend to be bad employees and bad police officers.

Conscientiousness. Employees, especially police officers, should be dedicated to their work, organized, and self-disciplined.

Emotional stability. Police officers must be calm, poised, and secure. People who are anxious, emotional, or depressed have difficulty coping with the rigors of police work.

Openness to experience. Police officers must be worldly. They must be imaginative, which allows them to adjust to changes in the environment and police strategies.
