Explain the theoretical roots of maturationists and application of this theory to early childhood education

What will be an ideal response?

Pestalozzi was considered the founding maturationist, and he believed that children have a right to an education that follows their own developmental trajectory. To support this developmental trajectory, Pestalozzi argued that formal school is needed for children to integrate knowledge from home life, vocational education, reading, and writing. Rousseau extended these ideas, and contributed the idea that the teacher is responsible for designing environments and experiences that complement the child's natural needs. Considered the father of the kindergarten movement, Froebel stressed the idea that readiness is central to children's successful learning and development, and that play provides support for readiness.
