In brief, if reality is outside the cave, why would one ever want to return to the darkness and the falsity of the cave?

What will be an ideal response?

The answer is that one has received an education that has freed one from the cave. It is then one’s bounded duty to return to the cave to educate others as a way of paying off one’s own debt of being educated. As a lover of honor, Glaucon can appreciate this sort of motivation. It would be shameful to renege on his debt. Glaucon is also motivated by sex, and those who are the best warriors and most intelligent guardians in the state are the ones who have most access to procreative sex to further their genetic characteristics. Glaucon can understand such a motivation as well in that such a configuration would allow him to satisfy his strongest desires.
